A few weeks back I had the fab job of photographing Clare and Ross’s wedding at the lovely Nurstead Court in Meopham, Kent. I’ve known Clare for some time through being stabled at the same livery yard with our horses.
So, onto the wedding day…. the weather was looking promising in the morning when I turned up at Clare’s mum and dad’s house. Clare had already had her makeup and hair done by the lovely Sherrie Warwick. Surrounded by some of her bridesmaids, the house was filled with excitement and anticipation. I left Clare once she was dressed and headed over to the venue to catch up with Ross and the guests arriving.
The ceremony was pretty emotional with Ross and Clare having been together for some time, finally married. Hooray!! We made our way outside for the drinks reception, cue black rainy clouds rolling in, booo! After a couple of attempts to get group pictures done outside, we decided to use the ceremony room instead which has a lovely old fireplace to use as a backdrop.
Then Clare’s two horses turned up! Scrubbed and preened to perfection by Abigail who runs the livery yard, and decked out with amazing rosettes and sashes by the lovely Leanne, they were led up the driveway for some pictures. Now this is where no matter how good your planning is, the weather is just something you can’t control… we had about three or four minutes before sadly the heavens opened again, again, boooo! No matter though as just seeing them on her wedding day bought a humungous smile to Clare’s face :)
With all the ducking in and out of the showers, it brought us only ten minutes late heading into the reception meal with all the pictures Clare and Ross wanted done in the bag. Clare and Ross had decorated the marquee at Nurstead amazingly, lots of pink, lots of horse shoes, lots of sweets, lots of fun. After the meal the speeches commenced, the best men had gone to a lot of trouble with a slideshow and plenty of highly entertaining quips and stories. The better the material, the more hilarious the pictures become, I love photographing this part :)
As is usually the case with weddings that are slightly hampered by on and off wet weather, Clare and Ross were rewarded with a fabulous dry evening and some brief golden light so we headed out after the reception meal for some more portraits.
A superb fun day to photograph, thanks for having me along, congratulations again xx
A slideshow of Clare and Ross’s big day is here.
Big thanks to Andrea Whelan for lending me a hand during the afternoon
